چکیده

temporal lobe, hippocampus or parahippocampal area is one possible cause [3] . Angioplasty with stenting of the posterior circulation is becoming a widely available neurointervention in patients with stenosis of the vertebral or basilar artery. We describe a patient with TGA following angioplasty with stenting of the vertebral artery. Dear Sir, Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a sudden-onset clinical syndrome characterized by a loss of memory for recent events and an inability to retain new memories [1] . Diverse mechanisms have been proposed as possible etiologies, including cerebral ischemia, arterial vasospasm, cerebral venous congestion, epilepsy and migraine [2–7] . Carotid angioplasty and stenting in a patient with high grade stenosis of Internal Carotid Artery associated with both vertebral arteries and contralateral carotid occlusion

Severe internal carotid artery (ICA) stenosis is a common cause of cerebrovascular accident (CVA) in middle-aged patients. Contralateral carotid occlusion (CCO) in patients with severe ICA stenosis is associated with high risk of CVA. Carotid endarterectomy (CEA) is associated with more complications in patients with CCO than those without CCO. In this study, we present the case of a 61-year-ol...

Key perspectives on stenting of symptomatic vertebral artery stenosis, resident involvement in neurosurgery, antithrombotic therapy following sellar and parasellar tumor resection, and radiosurgery for vestibular schwannomas

The objective of this study was to assess the safety and feasibility of stenting plus best medical treatment compared with best medical treatment alone in patients with symptomatic atherosclerotic vertebrobasilar artery stenosis of at least 50%. The patient population comprised patients from seven hospitals in the Netherlands from 2008 to 2013. Key inclusion criteria were a vertebrobasilar tran...

Long-term outcome after angioplasty and stenting for symptomatic vertebral artery stenosis compared with medical treatment in the Carotid And Vertebral Artery Transluminal Angioplasty Study (CAVATAS): a randomized trial.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The long-term outcome of endovascular intervention compared with best medical management of patients with symptomatic vertebral artery stenosis is uncertain. We therefore compared these treatments in a randomized trial with long-term follow-up. METHODS In the international, multicenter Carotid And Vertebral Artery Transluminal Angioplasty Study, 16 patients with symptom...

Rocha-Singh insightfully attributed this to the nonspecific symptoms associated with posterior cerebral ischemia, difficulties imaging proximal vertebral artery stenosis with ultrasound, and the absence of a standard surgical therapy for vertebral artery disease.2 The relationship between vertebral artery insufficiency and posterior circulation ischemia is now becomi...
